Adult Cosmetology Programs

Through a rigorous, holistic and comprehensive program of vocational/technical and academic preparation, as well as a progressive system of individual support and guidance, we strive to maximize the potential of each student for successful transition to full-time employment, to the pursuit of higher education and to a personal commitment of lifelong learning.

The Post-Secondary Cosmetology programs at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical School are designed to prepare the graduate for a competent entry level position in the exciting fields of Cosmetology and Aesthetics. Adult Cosmetology Day Program

The full course of instruction consists of 1,000 hours as required by the MA State Board of Registration of Cosmetologists. All phases of cosmetology will be introduced during the first half of the year. These are hair styling, cutting, permanent waves, coloring, manicuring, and skin care. Students will perfect these basic skills by hands-on training when we offer services to the public. Students are expected to maintain regular attendance and satisfactory progress and must maintain a 75% average.

Objectives of the Program

Upon successful completion of the program the student will:

Explain and apply safety and sanitation procedures
Communicate effectively to perform client consultations
Perform basic competent hair, nail and skin care services
Apply knowledge and procedures to successfully perform the MA Cosmetology Licensing Examination

Tuition and Fees (2020-2021)

In-District Tuition: $5,650.00
Out of District Tuition $8,990.00
(When class commences, In-District & Out of District Tuition cannot be changed)
*Kit and Supplies: $975.00 (payment due at first class). Kit includes textbooks (Milady series), mannequins and cosmetology supplies including scissors, blow dryer, curling/straightening irons, combs, brushes, curlers, perm rods etc.

In-District Tuition is applicable to the following towns:
Franklin, Medfield, Medway, Millis, Norfolk, North Attleboro, Plainville, Seekonk, Sherborn, Walpole, Wrentham

How to qualify for In-District Tuition

Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License AND Signed Lease Agreement OR Mortgage Statement OR most recent Employment Paystub need to be presented by the student to the Adult Education Office for proof of in-district residence. (All documents must have current in-district address, within the past 3 months)

Tuition Payment Schedule

Once accepted onto the program to secure enrollment, all students must pay a registration fee of $100.

A tuition deposit of one/half of the tuition is required by July 15.

The remaining balance is required before the first day of classes unless the student chooses to enroll in the Payment Plan Program or complete a Financial Aid online application at (www.FAFSA.gov). Tri-County’s school code: 041220.

Kit and Supplies fee is due on or before the first class.

There will be a $20.00 charge for all returned checks Tuition is subject to change for the upcoming school year.

Tuition for all Tri-County Adult Education and Post-Secondary Education programs are subject to change for the upcoming school year.

Admission Requirements

– Must be 18 years or older as of the first class date (Birth certificate may be required).
– Include G.E.D/HiSet Certificate, Official High School Transcripts, High School Diploma, Official College Transcript OR College Diploma
– Complete and submit the Tri-County RVTHS Continuing Education Application for Admission form Link to Application for Admission PDF Form. The application can be submitted in person, via email (Volpe@tri-county.us), Fax 508-528-3698 or via mail delivery.
– Once accepted into the program to secure enrollment, all students must pay a registration fee of $100.
– In accordance with current state law, applicants must submit Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) release form. The form will be provided by Tri-County for student consent. Students must provide a current Driver’s License or other Government issued photo identification to be copied at the time of completion.
– Class size is limited to 15 students. Registrants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration Process

Prospective students are required to fill out an Admission Application and submit it to the Adult Education Office. Your application will be reviewed and you will receive written notice of acceptance into the program. Once accepted into the program to secure enrollment, all students must pay a registration fee of $100.

Health Requirements

Current Physical Exam (Massachusetts School Heath Record and Certificate of Immunizations form to be completed by Physicians office). Tetanus booster every ten years, three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine, polio vaccine series, Measles, Mumps and rubella vaccines and one dose of Varivax or a history of Chicken Pox disease.

Financial Aid/Payment Plan

Financial Aid

Federal Financial Aid, in the form of Pell Grants, is available for this program. Tri-County encourages students to apply for Financial Aid through http://www.fafsa.gov/ using Tri-County’s school code of 041220. Tri-County does not provide access to student loans. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information at 508-528-5400 x111.

FACTS Payment Plan
A $50.00 enrollment fee is due upon registration for the Payment Plan program. Monthly payments for the balance of the tuition due will be made each month, beginning in October, by the 15th of each month. Late payment fees are applicable. Payments must be made, regardless of attendance. More information about the Payment Plan Program is available on the Payment Plan Information Page A student is delinquent in the monthly tuition if the monthly payment is not received by the date due for the current month. Students whose tuition is in arrears will not receive credit for the hours accrued.

Refund Policy

Refunds are processed upon receipt of a written notice of withdrawal and must be reviewed by the Adult Education Director before a refund is processed. Refunds are processed automatically, using the date that the written withdrawal notice is received, the amount of the refund is determined as follows:

100% of fee minus $100 withdrawal fee before the start date
60% of fee minus $100 withdrawal fee before the second class
40% of fee minus $100 withdrawal fee before the third class
There will be NO refunds after the third class

Rescheduling for Cancelled Classes

The class schedule has been set to achieve the required 1,000 hours of instruction and practice. Should any of these classes need to be cancelled, they will be rescheduled to ensure that these requirements are satisfied.

Transfer Policy

Students are enrolled and assigned to the Cosmetology program. Students will not be permitted to transfer to another program without just cause and written permission from the Director of Adult Education.

Transfer students from another institution will be accepted if space is available and with written approval from the Director of Adult Education. The transfer student must provide Tri-County with all the necessary documents including a Transfer of Hours Worksheet (MA Board of Cosmetology document) from the previous school attended. The student will be given a start date once all the necessary forms are received by the Adult Education office.

If a student of Tri-County requires hours to be transferred to another institution, the Director of Adult Education will provide and mail the Transfer of Hours Worksheet to said institution. As stated on the MA Board of Cosmetology document,” no hours will be transferred if the student has and owes money to the previous school.

Aesthetics

Important: Due to a major change by the state board of cosmetologists the requirements for this program have changed substantially, please review the information carefully and contact us with any questions.

The program provides training and practical experiences required to qualify students for the Massachusetts Aesthetics Licensing Exam. The full course of instruction consists of 600 hours as required by the State Board of Registration of Cosmetology. Students are required to maintain regular attendance, make satisfactory progress. Some of the subjects covered include skin analysis and consultation, anatomy and physiology, cosmetic chemistry, hair removal, and make-up application. .

Students learn the latest procedures in a hands-on, fast-paced salon environment and gain valuable experience working with clients providing various facials, skin treatments and waxing services.
 
Evening Program:
The Aesthetics program will run from October 15, 2019- May of 2021.  The schedule will follow the schools calendar for holidays and vacations. There will be a summer break with no classes in July and August.  Classes will start in September after the summer break.

Once accepted into the program to secure enrollment, all students must pay a registration fee of $100.

Total tuition divided by 2 = Year 1 and Year 2 tuition

Year 1:
50% of Year 1 tuition (minus $100) is due on or before July 15th
100% of Year 1 tuition must be paid in full on or before the 1st day of school unless the student chooses to enroll in the FACTS Payment Plan.

Year 2:
50% of Year 2 tuition is due on or before July 15th
100% of Year 2 tuition must be paid in full on or before the 1st day of school unless the student chooses to enroll in the FACTS Payment Plan.

Tuition for all Tri-County Adult Education programs is subject to change for the upcoming school year.

There is a $20 fee for any returned checks.
