Faculty Friday

What inspired you to become an administrative assistant, and how has your journey been so far?

As a child, I always thought that I would be a teacher but ended up getting my degree in computer science. After having children and being home with my kids for some time, I wanted to get back into a career with a schedule that allowed me to still be available for my children.  I started substitute teaching which turned into a K/1 Instructional Aide, then a MS Student Success Coach, and now an administrative assistant in HS.  I’ve been working in schools for about 20 years.  I love working with and around students as they bring such good energy and excitement to each day, and I’m happy my path has led me to Tri-County!  I especially love running into some of my former K/1 kids who are now at TC!

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that our students might not know?

My family loves exploring!  One summer, my husband, four children and I drove cross-country in our minivan:  36 days and 9 hours, 10,304 miles, 23 nights camping, 28 states, 13 national parks, coast-to-coast!

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of working at TC?

I Love taking my dogs on treks, strolls along any beach, thrift shopping, exploring hidden gems around New England, and spending any time with my children.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to students?

Don’t get hung up on the little things!  Each day try to do and be your best, and some days will be better than others, but try to start each new day with a fresh outlook and positive attitude.
