What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?

As a teenager, growing up with parents who were educators, I thought I’d never go into teaching.  However, when I was studying psychology and sociology as an undergraduate I took an education course as an elective and realized that this was an area that I was passionate about.  After several years of working in elementary schools, middle schools, and other high schools I landed at Tri-County and found the experiences with the school, faculty and students to be the best, most rewarding experiences in my teaching career.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?

Prior to teaching at Tri-County I ran a home based day care for my children and other neighborhood children.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of being a teacher?

Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running, reading, going to the beach, and the theater.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to students?

Read what you love until you love to read.
