It's Faculty Friday! Today we are featuring Math Teacher Steven Cadoret!
What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?
It's funny because I never thought I would be a teacher. After graduating from Boston College with a degree in marketing, and having a year of an MBA program at Franklin Pierce University, I decided to chase the dream of playing professional baseball. I started subbing to make some extra money, and playing baseball in the summer. I really enjoyed teaching and working with kids, and this inspired me to get my teaching license. 15 years later, I'm still at it! The journey has been great so far.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
At Boston College, we played the Boston Red Sox in spring training. I pitched against the majority of the 2007 World Series starting lineup, including hall of famer David Ortiz. After college, I had the opportunity to live in Perth, Western Australia and Eindhoven, The Netherlands where I worked, coached and played baseball.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?
I love spending time with my family, and I enjoy watching and playing sports. I play baseball for an over 30 men's baseball team and have coached a summer collegiate baseball league for the past 10 years.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
Always give your best effort in anything that you do. Life is what you make of it!

Dynamic Duos Spotlight 👷
Meet Evan and Lorenzo Rivas, two brothers bonded by their passion for the arts and craftsmanship! 🎨🛠️
From an early age, their love for creativity shaped their path in the trades. When Evan joined Tri-County and spoke highly of the Graphic Communications shop, Lorenzo followed in his footsteps—soon realizing he was meant to be there too!
The duo's most memorable project together? Screen printing! Evan got the chance to teach Lorenzo skills from the shop, making it a full-circle moment of growth and mentorship. 💡
Beyond the work itself, having a sibling in the same field brings extra fun, support, and connection—and Evan knows his legacy will live on through Lorenzo's journey! 🔥

Alumni All Star Adam Wainwright, II!
Adam is a 2021 graduate of the Engineering Program. He will be graduating from Stonehill College in May with both his B.S. in Mathematics and B.A. in Economics, as well as being selected to receive the "Outstanding Student" award for both of his majors. He is currently looking for a job at the moment, but hopes to pursue a PhD in Economics in the future. His experience at Tri-County influenced his choices by helping him realize the power of grit and determination, as well as his love for Mathematics. Adam’s favorite memory from Tri-County was winning the first-ever Taco-Two Mile on the track team. One project that had a significant impact on him was when he had the opportunity to work on a Flagpole for the Artemis Missions through the HUNCH program. He also says that the skills and knowledge gained from his vocational education program still help him today, as he has continued to work at his high school Co-Op Job during school breaks.
Adam’s advice to current students: “Try new things, and get involved as much as you can. This is one of the best times where you have those opportunities and make valuable connections.”

🌟 Dynamic Duo: Jo & Sam Tofani 🌟
👶 Early Education Program 👶
Jo and Sam Tofani may not have worked on big projects together, but their connection in the Early Education program makes for a powerful partnership. 🤝
One of their favorite things about being in the same shop? The ability to bounce ideas off each other based on their experiences with the kids. 🎨🧩 Whether it's brainstorming new activities or simply sharing stories, their collaboration helps each of them grow as educators. 🍎✨
While their teamwork may not have been focused on big projects, they did help each other make the bulletin board look great—a small but impactful way to contribute to their classroom environment. 🏫🎨
And of course, they share one more common experience—people getting them mixed up with each other all the time! 😆
Jo & Sam prove that teamwork isn't just about big projects—it's about sharing ideas, supporting each other, and having fun along the way! 💡

It's Faculty Friday! Featuring English Teacher Peter Hefele!
What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?
Well, my first job out of college was as an Information Specialist. It was a great job because I got to combine my computer skills with my writing skills. I would get technical issues that were escalated from our call center, and I would solve the problem and write instructions for the customer service representatives explaining how to resolve the issue. I was also responsible for my company’s internal web site for employees, as well as writing technical troubleshooting manuals and call center scripts. It was the last part of my job that really opened my eyes to “business ethics.” One of the things that I was responsible for doing was to write a set of scripts for customer service reps to use when a customer called to cancel their service. The flowchart I was expected to create essentially made it almost impossible for a customer to actually cancel their service; in fact, most people would end up signing up for a brand new four-year contract of our service when they thought they were simply getting a few months for free. It didn’t sit very well with me knowing that my writing skills were ultimately being used to deceive customers. When my company was purchased, the new company laid off the entire Massachusetts call center. That’s when I decided I wanted a career change, and I went back to college for a teaching licensure program. Teaching has been a much more rewarding experience. I enjoy making a positive contribution to people’s lives, and we have a wonderful Tri-County community.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
When I was an undergraduate, I was a member of the Poetry Club. I won a few poetry slams, and I performed at various open mic nights. I actually headlined at the Middle East once with one of my professors who is a published author.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?
I really love the outdoors. I enjoy going camping, hiking, kayaking, and fishing. I also have three dogs (two Shih-Tzus and a Yorkie) who take up a lot of my time, so entertaining my dogs is almost like a hobby unto itself. I also like to play video games in my spare time, as well as Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop games.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
I know there are lots of clichés I could share, but I’ll share a quote with you instead: “There is no money in poetry, but then there’s no poetry in money, either.” - Robert Graves. I know that Graves was talking about poetry, but I think that the real message here is to do what you love. If I could give my students one piece of advice, it would be to choose a career that you are passionate about rather than just looking at lists of starting salaries. Life is too short to spend each day doing something that makes you miserable. Don’t get me wrong, money makes one’s life easier, but a job that you love makes one’s life much more joyful.

🛠 Great Job, Carpentry Students! 🏗️
