🌟 Alumni All Star Spotlight: Hayley Hanifan 🌟
Class of 2020 • Medical Careers
Hayley Hanifan is a standout whose journey in healthcare keeps inspiring the next generation! 💙🩺
Hayley earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Salem State University (2024) 🎓✨. Today, she works as a Medication Coordinator at Genoa Healthcare, part of UnitedHealthcare, where she supports individuals with mental health conditions. In her role, she helps ensure patients understand their medications before discharge — making their transition back into the community safer and smoother. 🌱💊
Hayley’s favorite TC memory? Graduating during COVID. Even though the world felt upside down, celebrating that milestone with the people who supported her for four years meant everything. 💛
Her clinical experiences at Milford Hospital, Wrentham Developmental Center, and Cornerstone at Milford played a huge role in shaping her career path. Those hands‑on rotations built her confidence and helped her discover where she truly belonged in healthcare. 🏥✨
A standout moment from high school: Completing Dean Vaughn’s medical terminology program — 350 terms! 📚 That foundation still helps her today.
Hayley’s advice to current students:
“It goes by in the blink of an eye. Stay open to new experiences, ask questions, and take pride in every learning opportunity — they can shape your future. I came to TC wanting to be a Police Officer, but once I explored medical careers, I knew that’s where I was meant to be. I wouldn’t change a thing.” 💬💙
She credits TC for giving her experiences most students don’t get until college — professionalism, patient interaction, and real clinical exposure at just 16/17. Those skills not only prepared her for her career, but shaped her into a stronger, more compassionate person. 🌟
Her message to future healthcare students:
Even if you’re not dispensing medications yet, vocational training builds the core skills pharmacies rely on — attention to detail, patient safety, and understanding treatment plans. These foundations matter.

Tyler started in the Medical shop, continued his education at a Vet Tech program in Orlando, and today he’s building a successful career as a Real Estate Agent with Douglas Elliman!
When he looks back on high school, it’s not one moment that stands out — it’s the feeling. The games, the performances, the friendships, the laughter. The moments where everything made sense and he felt supported, confident, and proud.
Tyler shares that his high school experience played a huge role in shaping his career path.
“My high school experience helped shape my career path by showing me what I was interested in and what I wasn’t. Classes, teachers, and activities gave me real-world insight and built my confidence. By graduation, I had a clearer sense of direction, making my next steps feel more intentional.”
One project that made a lasting impact? His senior experience observing a liposuction procedure. Seeing the precision and teamwork behind the scenes gave him a new appreciation for responsibility and real‑world skills.
His message for today’s students:
Get involved. Try new things. Build relationships. Don’t be afraid to change direction — that’s how you figure out who you are. 🙌✨
We’re proud to celebrate Tyler and all he’s accomplished!

Meet Kimberly Avalo, a proud member of the Class of 2024 and a graduate of our Health Careers shop! 💙
After discovering her passion for the medical field in high school, Kimberly is now attending UMass Boston, majoring in Exercise & Health Science on the Occupational Therapy track — already paving the way toward her future OTD degree. 🎓💪
She’s also making an impact in the healthcare world as a Clinical Fertility Assistant at Mass General Hospital, where her certifications, hands‑on training, and confidence from vocational education continue to shine.
When asked about her favorite high school memory, Kimberly didn’t hesitate:
💬 “Meeting my best friends freshman year in shop. They’re the people I count on the most, and we created the most memorable moments.”
Sports also played a huge role in shaping her path. From Girls Volleyball to Lacrosse, Kimberly found joy in staying active and discovered her passion for working with athletes — a perfect match for her EHS major and future PT/OT internship opportunities.
Her advice for current students?
💬 “Always try something new. I was scared to try out for sports with no experience, but I met the best people and made the best memories. Even with shop — I didn’t think I wanted something medical, but it was the best decision I made.”

Under the guidance of Stephanie Johnson, RN, MSN, our students completed their final day of rotations at Sturdy Health Hospital and Wrentham Developmental Center.
This year they explored acute care units like the ER, Med‑Surg, ICU, and PT at Sturdy, observing specialists in action. At WDC, they supported residents with developmental and cognitive disabilities through daily care and meaningful activities.
We’re so grateful for these partnerships and incredibly proud of the hard work our students put in. Their future in healthcare is bright, and we can’t wait to see where they go next!

LPS students in grades 9 & 11 got a real life civics lesson in the form of a day-long field trip observing all the working components of town government. This was our fourth year of this Franklin Close-Up program, which included new stops along the tour! The goals of this day were to provide the freshmen with real-life working examples of the interdependence of town government, and to expose them to the various career options in public service; and for the juniors to consider potential paid/unpaid internship placements (either in Franklin or in their own sending towns) for their senior year. Students heard presentations from the following departments:
following: Franklin Fire Department, Arts & Culture, Conservation Department, Senior Center, Veterans Services, Franklin Public Library, Parks and Recreation, DPW, & Water Sanitation.

On April 15th, our students joined Mrs. Hertel, our Math & AP teacher, for an inspiring day of advocacy and learning. They met with Representative Jeffrey Roy and Senator Rebecca Rausch to discuss Bill S.2536, which would require Massachusetts state colleges to award credit for AP scores of 3 or higher.
With Massachusetts ranked #1 in the nation for AP performance, our students showed exactly why—speaking confidently, asking thoughtful questions, and representing our school with pride. 💙📚
A powerful day for student voices.
