🎓 Senior Trigonometry class nailed it! Alumni All Star Chris Ferreira!
Chris Ferreira is a 2015 Graduate of our Computer Information Systems Program! He continued his education at UMASS Dartmouth where he majored in Marketing, and a double Minor in Business Management & Sustainability. Chris is a Firefighter / EMT A, Cardiac, with the Smithfield, RI Fire Department.
His favorite high school memory is an appreciation for how all the teachers treated students like young adults and genuinely wanted to see everyone succeed. They were always a phone call or a walk to the classroom away and continually went above and beyond for students. He appreciates that they maintain relationships with graduates, truly wanting them to be the best they can be.
Chris says his high school experience taught him the importance of having both academic education and practical skills. This dual approach helped him to confidently transition to a career he loves, where he can solve challenging problems and help others. A significant activity that made an impact on him was the interview and resume-building lessons. This training was crucial and continues to be a valuable skill in building relationships with people. He says the logical thinking and troubleshooting skills he developed in CIS enhanced his ability to make quick, data-driven decisions in high-pressure situations, improving the overall effectiveness of his responses. Additionally, maintaining infrastructure has made him a valuable resource for his team, contributing to collective success.
Chris's advice for current students: "Don't judge a book by its cover. Make your own opinions about people and situations. Most of the time, your gut is correct. Enjoy your time at TC; it's a very special place with endless opportunities!"

Emily Hopkins graduated from the Cosmetology program in the class of 2018! She attended Bristol Community College for two years, earning an associate's degree in Liberal Arts, before transferring to Bridgewater State University for her bachelor's in Health Science. She is currently a Sales and Events Manager at Splitsville and Howl at the Moon in Patriot Place. Her favorite high school memory was being a part of the math team. Math was always one of her favorite subjects and loved learning and understanding it further outside of the classroom. Emily says High school made her WANT to work and start a career. She liked the responsibility given along with the opportunity to explore other fields. It helped her realize she had no idea what she really wanted to do and allowed her the confidence to be okay trying out different jobs and majors in school until she found something she was passionate about. The senior project, hands down had a significant impact on her. Her project was on Albinism. Since all the questions for the project were centered around Cosmetology (coloring hair, waxing, makeup, etc), it was hard to research and find real answers to all the questions. This pushed her to learn how to dive deeper into research, leading her to connect with foundations and speak directly with individuals who have albinism. It taught her the importance of true research to understand a topic before educating others, which helps in college, work, and real life. The skills she gained from her vocational education, particularly Cosmetology, helped her develop a strong sense of customer service and attention to detail. Working closely with clients taught her how to connect with people, making it easier to build relationships with guests and her team. All of this helps her make events memorable and build a lasting impression.
Emily's advice to students: "I would encourage current high school students to get involved in as many activities as possible and to build relationships with their teachers and peers. These connections can open doors and provide support throughout your career. Also, don’t hesitate to explore different interests; you never know what you might be passionate about!"
Under the direction of Mrs. Dodakian and Mrs. Thibault, Grade 11 Health Careers Students studied the Urinary System and related skills. They tested urine using reagent strips to check for glucose, ketones, and pH levels. Additionally, they learned about various types of urinary catheters and how to care for them as certified nursing assistants (CNAs). 🩺 🏥 💉

Graphic Communications students collaborated with the NASA HERA crew to design their official mission patch. Fran Williams and her students did amazing work. The final patch was designed by Graphic Communications Senior, Morgan Fleury(pictured here), and finalized by Mrs. Williams and the entire HERA Crew, including our own Engineering Instructor - Kristen Magas! The patch will be handed out to people all over the world and will be on NASA HERAs wall. Congratulations to Morgan, Mrs. Magas and Mrs. Williams for a job well done! 🎉

LPS juniors, “The Fraud Squad,” delivered their first of seven presentations to local senior centers warning people about current scams targeting elderly people. 📊🚨 Our state's Attorney General office informed LPS students about trends in these crimes that aim to scam people out of thousands of dollars every year. 💸 The Fraud Squad’s next presentation will be at the Bellingham Senior Center on 10/22 at 11:30 a.m. 📅 #CommunitySupport #SeniorSafety #FraudPrevention
