It’s Faculty Friday – featuring Metal Fabrication Instructor Ken Young!
What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?
Welding has been nothing short of a lifelong craft for me —one that has given me purpose, opportunities, and the chance to build something that lasts. I’ve spent years honing my skills, and I feel a deep responsibility to pass on what I’ve learned to the next generation. There's value in working with your hands, in creating something tangible, and in mastering a trade that demands patience and precision.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
Beyond the shop, life is all about balance and pushing limits. I briefly took Tae-Kwon-Do lessons from my wife, a third-degree black belt, and trust me—I learned quickly that discipline isn’t just for the welding booth.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?
When I’m not here, you’ll find me riding my Harleys or immersed in the energy of heavy metal and metal core concerts. These are the things that make me happy, and as the saying goes: The wolf doesn’t care about the opinion of the sheep.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
“Whatever path you take, I hope you pursue it with the same passion and commitment that welding has given me. Do what makes you happy, and forge your own way forward.”

✨ Alumni All-Star: Nick Bennett! ✨
Meet Nick Bennett, a proud Tri-County CIS program graduate from the Class of 2019! After earning his degree in Computer Science from the University of New Haven in 2023, he’s now pursuing his Master’s Degree while working as a Network Technician at the university.
🔹 Favorite Memory: Senior Projects Week—watching everyone showcase their hard work. Though nervous, Nick was thrilled to earn a near-perfect grade!
🔹 How it All Started: His love for Cisco Packet Tracer projects sparked an interest in real networking devices. Landing a Co-Op job at Plainville Public Schools’ IT Department solidified his passion and led him to join the University of New Haven Network Team—where he still works today!
🔹 Most Impactful Project: His "smart" mirror built with a Raspberry Pi. From system crashes to constructing the perfect frame and acquiring precision glass—it was his most challenging high school project. Thanks to the support of family and peers, he made it happen!
🔹 Advice to Students:
"Don't waste it. You may hate waking up early, but it’s worth it. You never know where you’ll end up, so put in the effort, learn as much as possible, and have fun. Everything I learned at Tri-County made my first years of college a breeze—giving me more time to make friends and work on cool projects!"
⚡ Nick credits Tri-County for 90% of his initial networking knowledge, helping him build the foundation to grow his skills.
🎓 From student to IT pro—Nick’s journey is proof that hard work and passion pay off!

Dynamic Duo🌟: Jackson & Jordan Kullich!
Some things just run in the family—like a love for carpentry. 🔨 When Jackson first explored different trades as a freshman, carpentry immediately stood out, becoming his top choice. Jordan shared the same passion, making it an easy decision to follow suit.
Although they haven’t worked on projects side by side yet, their paths have still been intertwined. While juniors and seniors tackle outside projects, freshmen and sophomores focus on building their skills indoors. Even without shared projects, there’s something special about knowing your sibling is right there, learning alongside you in the same shop.⭐
For Jackson and Jordan, carpentry isn’t just about mastering the craft—it’s about growing within the trade together. Who knows? One day, they might tackle a project as a team, turning their shared passion into something truly remarkable!✨

This incredible creation is a testament to skill, craftsmanship, and passion. Keep rocking, Ben—this is nothing short of legendary! 👏

It's Faculty Friday! Featuring Social Studies Teacher David Sienko!
What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?
My inspiration to become a teacher came from my 8th grade Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Henderson. I grew a love of history in her class and wanted to play a role in inspiring other kids to become interested in learning about history and maybe grow to love it as I have. I started as an on call Substitute Teacher which I did for a few years while looking for a full time teaching job. I was able to move up to a full time paraprofessional job that I did for a few years prior to getting hired here at Tri-County in 2022.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
I have a twin brother.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?
I enjoy camping and hiking the White Mountains in New Hampshire and going to live sporting events.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
Don't be afraid to fail. Failure is our greatest teacher. We learn about what we can and cannot do, but we also learn how to adapt and improve ourselves in order to succeed and become a better person overall.

🏆 CHAMPIONS AGAIN! 🏆
🥎✨Our Varsity Softball team has done it again—Mayflower League Champions AND Back-to-Back Massachusetts Vocational State Champions!! 🔥💪

Their leadership, strategy, and unwavering support have been pivotal in making Tri-County history! 🙌
From the first pitch to the final out, this team has shown what it means to play with passion and purpose. Thank you to everyone who cheered us on—this victory is for YOU! 💙🥎
