🔬 Exploring Atomic Radius with Junior Chemists! 🌟 Ms. Gould's Junior Chemistry class is diving into an exciting lab activity that involves making models of periodic trends, specifically focusing on atomic radius. 🧪 Models are especially useful when visualizing something too small to be seen. Our students are using manipulatives to create 3D models, helping them visualize the size differences of elements on the periodic table. Through this hands-on experience, they’re gaining a deeper understanding of how the radius of an atom relates to other trends and properties of elements. 🌍✨ #JuniorChemistry #AtomicRadius #ScienceLab #3DModels #HandsOnLearning #STEMEducation #PeriodicTable #ChemistryInAction #WorkHardTodayCounts

Alumni All-Star Shannon Zogalis! Shannon is a 2019 graduate from the Health Careers Program! After high school Shannon went to Bryant University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology and is now finishing up her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Shannon is currently the Tri-County Cheerleading Coach! Her favorite memory from high school was being a part of the cheerleading team. She loved being able to show school spirit and compete in competitions doing the sport that she loved. Shannon says that being in the health careers shop opened her eyes to the many opportunities for a career in healthcare and motivated her to continue in that field after high school. Working towards getting her certified nursing assistant license was something that had a big impact on her career choice. Receiving her license and eventually working as a CNA for many years shaped her into the person she is today and encouraged her to move forward in the nursing field. Shannon says that the skills and knowledge learned through Health Careers led her to success in both of her degrees. She felt prepared and inspired to learn when attending college classes. Continuing onto nursing school after being in Health Careers and working as a CNA, she was able to excel using the lessons learned throughout her time at Tri-County. She still looks up to her Health Careers teachers as role models and for advice! Advice to current students: “My advice would be to enjoy every second because the years go by fast! Take all the opportunities that Tri-County offers because it will lead to success in the field you choose to go into after graduation.”

Alumni All-Star Kyle Trowbridge! Kyle is a 2009 graduate from the Automotive Collision Repair Shop! Kyle went on to open his own automotive detailing shop – All-In Automotive Detailing in Blackstone, MA. He says the skills obtained while at Tri-County are essential to his career now as a detailing shop owner. Being able to transform a vehicle, making it look brand new, was learned in from his training in shop at TC, and has become something he takes pride in doing every day. He also learned communication and customer service skills in shop, which have become a key component in helping his business grow. Kyle says Tri-County influenced his career path by equipping him with valuable skills that he was able to build a business around and monetize the expertise he acquired as a student. One of his favorite memories from school was placing 1st in SkillsUSA and competing against students from other schools! Kyle's favorite project at Tri-County was working on a truck bed liner for Mr. Bruno during his senior year for his senior project. Kyle’s advice to current students: Focus on your vocation and have faith that your teachers are committed to your success and will always be there to support you. My shop teachers are still a major influence in my life!

Alumni All Star Jake Nicastro - 2014 graduate from the CIS Program! He earned his Bachelor’s in Computer & Digital Forensics, and is pursuing a Master’s in IT with a focus in Data Science, all from Champlain College. Jake is Tech Lead & Principal Intrusion Operations Analyst with Google Threat Intelligence Group. Favorite memory from HS – The double-sessions for soccer in the summer. The team put in hard work every year and created strong bonds. There are life lessons to be learned from playing sports. His coach, Mr. Vernon, is still one of the most influential characters in his life. The skills learned from TC gave him a baseline to build an IT career path in any direction he chose. He was able to test out of classes in college, allowing room to take others. There are so many niches of IT, and having a well-rounded foundation goes a long way. Jake says the exploratory sessions with Bristol Community College introduced him to the concept of digital forensics. He loved it, which led to his degree choice and his career today. Building a well-rounded foundation and getting real work experience for years before attending college gave him a leg up, allowing him to focus on more advanced topics and land internships. His CIS knowledge is the bedrock of what he does every day at work. He is privileged to be part of a team investigating and tracking down the most impactful cyber threats on the world stage. Being part of events that will be used as case studies in classrooms for years to come before even hitting 30 years old. He has been lucky to have incredible leaders and friendships made throughout the journey. He doubts that he would be where he is now without attending TC and choosing CIS. Jake’s advice to students: “At the risk of sounding like a parent: pay attention and take it all in, even if something is a drag. You will appreciate later in life that you paid attention and learned lessons that might take a few years to settle in. For example, I hate to admit it, but y=mx+b actually does have a purpose in the world, including being a fundamental concept of AI! (Speaking of AI: use it to amplify your learning, not replace it. You’ll appreciate that later too.)”

Alumni All Star – Brian Warren! Brian is a graduate of the Electrical Wiring Technology program class of 1993! He attended Troy University in Alabama. Go Trojans! Brian is a Regulatory Specialist for the City of Pendleton in Pendleton, Oregon. Brian’s favorite high school memory was being part of a championship wrestling team! That working hard pays off and the joy of a job well done. While Brian did not become an electrician, the training he received at Tri-County helps him every day at work. He works with controls for water distribution and wastewater treatment. The knowledge of diagrams and diagnosing issues comes from my education at Tri-County. The one specific project that Brian says really had a significant impact on him was when Tri-County built a house for a family as a community project. The students were able to get real-world experience while doing something amazing for the community. Mr. Bentley, Mr. Butler and Mr. Halstead were great instructors. The skills and knowledge that he gained at Tri-County has had a significant impact on his career, it made him realize that there is honor and a future in the trades! He said that even if it is in a round-about way, the education he received has helped him along the way. He mentions that in trades, you learn work ethic, quality of work and how to be precise and correct. That helps him every day making sure drinking water is safe. Brian’s advice for students: “Enjoy it. It’s 4 years which seems like an eternity, but it goes by quick. Also, remember that you can make mistakes. Life is hard enough without you beating yourself up.” #WorkHardTodayCounts #AlumniAllStar
