✨ Kicking off the year with purpose! ✨
Last night marked the first Advisory Committee meeting of the year, and we’re feeling inspired. Twice a year, dedicated industry professionals volunteer their time to share insights, trends, and expertise with our vocational teachers. Their input helps ensure our programs stay aligned with the evolving demands of the workforce—so our students graduate ready to thrive.
Thank you to all our committee members for your commitment to shaping the future of career and technical education! 💼📚💡
If you are interested in becoming an advisory board member for one of our 17 programs, please reach out to our Vocational Director, Pamela Olsen - olsen@tri-county.us

It's Faculty Friday! Today we are featuring our Vocational Director, Pamela Olsen!
What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?
There were so many parts to the Criminal Justice field that I loved and it was hard to choose just one! So when the opportunity came to begin a Criminal Justice program I took a chance and it was the best decision. I absolutely loved being able to see students so excited about learning.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
Prior to teaching, I was a Criminology Researcher focusing on grants that supported combating gang, firearm, and drug crime.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?
I love spending time with my kids doing all kinds of adventures! Lake time is the best time :)
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.

🔬⚙️📐 It’s STEM Week at school and the excitement is electric!💡🚀
☀️⏳ Time, shadows, and STEM collide in Mrs. Jones' Senior Trigonometry class! Students put their math skills to the test by designing and building sundials — using angles, geometry, and a little sunshine to track time the old-school way. 🌍📐
This hands-on project blends Science (Earth’s rotation), Technology (timekeeping tools), Engineering (designing the gnomon), and Math (calculating angles based on latitude). Who knew telling time could be this cool?

Selected from over 300 applicants, these students were among 50 chosen by Crimson EMS (Harvard University’s emergency medical service) in partnership with the American Heart Association 🙌
As trained CPR ambassadors, they’re not just learning — they’re leading. Teaching others, raising awareness, and inspiring action in emergency preparedness. 💪🧠💓

It's Faculty Friday! Featuring Paraprofessional and Cross Country Coach Andrew Baron!
What inspired you to become a teacher, and how has your journey been so far?
I worked in Higher Education for 7 Years and once my job ended I felt a desire to do something different. I'm a graduate from Blackstone Valley Tech and that school really shaped my future. I felt it was time to go back where it all started. I'm so fortunate to be here at TC working with amazing people and interacting with the students.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
I was a Radio DJ & Producer for over 20 years. It was a wonderful time in my life being on the radio interacting with listeners, working with awesome people, talking sports and playing music. I also was a collegiate Cross Country & Track athlete and coached in college for 7 years. I'm also currently one of the coaches here at TC.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of teaching?
I enjoy spending time with my daughter Amelia and my wife Maureen. I also enjoy running, swimming, working on our house, watching sports, movies and also studying and observing the weather.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to your students?
Create your own path in life. Don't live someone else's dreams live your own!

The Tri-County Culinary Arts program recently welcomed a distinguished presentation from the Culinary Institute of America!👨🍳 Guest Chef Cassie delivered an engaging culinary demonstration featuring the preparation of traditional German Spätzle. She also provided an in-depth overview of the CIA’s degree programs and its three campus locations: Hyde Park, New York; Greystone, California; and San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, Chef Cassie discussed the articulation agreement between Tri-County and the CIA, highlighting how eligible credits earned through the Culinary Arts program can be transferred toward a degree at the CIA. Students were also encouraged to attend upcoming open house events on November 7th and 15th to learn more about opportunities at the Institute.
