Matt is a 2017 from the Electrical Wiring Technology Shop! He furthered his education through an apprentice program for electrical. He is currently a licensed Journeyman Electrician in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. He has worked for Professional Electrical Contractors since 2016 before he started his senior year at Tri-County. Matt says his favorite memory from high school would have to be all the games such as Family Feud, Jeopardy, Kahoot, etc. that his Electrical shop teachers, Mr. McKeown and Mr. Sprague created to help the class learn the electrical code. It was so much fun and got really competitive. His high school experience influenced his career path since his freshman year. He says it all started during the Freshmen Exploratory experience. He originally came to Tri-County dead set on being in CIS but as he finished exploring nine shops he realized he liked working with his hands and building things. He started in HVAC his freshman year but decided it just wasn’t working so he switched to Electrical starting sophomore year and says it’s the best decision he’s made. One project that had a major impact on him was the traffic light project he did his junior year. The shop managed to get a hold of the programming system for the traffic light that’s on a cart. Matt was picked to wire it up to a motion sensor and figure out how to program it. It’s still used in the shop to this day! The skills and knowledge he gained at Tri-County helped him learn the basics of electrical wiring and helped him get enough hours to count as a second year apprentice right out of high school! This helped him to get his electrical license earlier than most! Matt’s advice to current high school students: “Don’t stress too hard and enjoy school while it lasts. These are your final years you get to see friends and make lifelong friendships before life takes over.” #WorkHardTodayCounts

Students in LPS, Early Ed and Health Careers were treated to a talk from Jill Fearons, the founder of the Friends of Jack Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to protecting children’s mental health and well-being along with their physical health while undergoing treatment. Ms. Fearons shared the story of her son, Jack, who survived (and is thriving) against the odds when he was hospitalized as a young boy. The gratitude she feels is what drives her to tirelessly provide for others by fundraising to support countless programs in hospitals across New England. She introduced many students to the career of "child life specialist," which she credits with making her family members' lives easier during their very difficult journey. The TC students were nothing short of inspired and will be spending some time tomorrow helping Jill with a top secret 🎅🏻 project to support some students in New Bedford in the coming weeks! Aimee is a 2016 graduate from our Medical Careers - now called Health Careers program! She also attended the Adult LPN program at Tri-County. Aimee has worked in the Senior Living Industry. Her jobs included Nurse, Memory Care Director, Nursing Director, and Executive Director, overseeing a 100+ bed Assisted Living Facility. She is the proud Owner/CEO of AimToCare Senior Advisors, where she assists Seniors in guidance through the healthcare system. Her company provides 24/7 Support, Care Coordination, Nursing/Cognitive Assessments, Dementia Education, and Assisted Living Guidance/Placement. A favorite memory from high-school was connecting with her shop teachers. Mrs. Dodakian and Mrs. Guanci were guiding forces for her throughout her high-school experience and will forever be grateful for their compassion and support. Through the Medical Careers program, she gained hands-on experience working with the elderly. Starting at 15 years old, she discovered her passion for caring for seniors, especially those with dementia. The clinical and life skills learned at Tri-County have been instrumental in advancing Aimee's career and deepening her commitment to this field. Her high school experience caring for the elderly during clinical rotations helped her gain insight into the aging process and building personal connections, hearing their stories, learning about their families, and understanding how to communicate with individuals living with dementia impacted Aimee. This shaped her as a person and changed the way she interacts with others and views life. Caring for people with dementia has become her true calling. Tri-County provided her the opportunity to develop these skills in real-world settings. She started her career as a CNA and Nurse before advancing into director roles. She believes that hands-on experience at the ground level is essential to delivering high-quality care and service. Today, as a business owner, she helps guide the geriatric population through the next stages of life. Without Tri-County, Aimee says she would never have discovered her passion for caring for others! Aimee's advice to current students: "Always stay true to yourself!"

📸✨ The Carpentry Shop recently visited the Carpenters Union Training Center in Millbury, MA. One of our grade 11 students, Cathleen Odell, is the younger sister of one of our past graduates Sophia, from the class of 2018. During our tour of the Carpenters Training facility, Sophia was finishing her last apprenticeship training and is now becoming a journeyman. 🔨 Sophia took the time to say hello to all our students and shared her story about the importance of putting in the effort and hard work to succeed. She also took a moment to tell all the students that she appreciated her time at TC in the carpentry shop and offered a few pearls of wisdom. She reminded them to appreciate where they are and to do their best to pay attention. Her sister was certainly proud of her, and it's clear that she feels the same. #ProudMoment #CarpentersUnion #TrainingCenterVisit #StudentSuccess #Inspiration #WorkHardTodayCounts #LegacyOfExcellence #CarpentrySkills #TCStudents #WomenintheTrades
